His training programs target the executive functions of the brain, a set of cognitive skills whose purpose is to ensure that goals lead to success. Through intensive strategy training and skill practice, he helps his clients achieve results in the pursuit of their own goals.

Dr. Theo contributed to the development of the Executive Plus program, designed to improve executive functions in people with traumatic brain injuries. He also created EmReg™, a training program designed to increase emotional intelligence, and improve communication skills and social problem solving.

He is currently involved in a research project at Mount Sinai designed to investigate the effectiveness of delivering emotional regulation training to a group of participants through online video interaction. Success of this program will increase access to health care for individuals with traumatic brain injuries.

Dr. Theo has published articles in prestigious journals and co-authored textbook chapters in his area of expertise. He delivers presentations and workshops nationally and internationally. He is a peer reviewer for a number of high-impact scientific journals, and continues to provide training and supervision to clinicians and staff on assessment and intervention following brain injury.

  • Commitment
  • Connection

Smashing the Brainblocks™ can help you rediscover your passion, make successful career transitions, explore life options and opportunities, deal with significant life changes, and achieve a mentally and emotionally healthy state of being.

Formally called cognitive rehabilitation, brain training consists of a combination of exercises and strategies designed to sharpen your focus, boost your creativity, and increase your mental efficiency.

The goal of brain training is to enable you to achieve your goals by learning how to tap into your brain’s unlimited potential.

Brain training can help you defeat procrastination, conquer your self-defeating habits, increase your productivity, and find your peace of mind.

The goal of psychotherapy is to improve your self-awareness, teach you skills, and provide emotional support so that you are able to handle challenges, make better decisions, form stronger relationships, and live a more fulfilling life.

How long does it take?

The length of psychotherapy can range from a session to a lifetime. Meetings are usually scheduled once a week, and more or less frequently, depending on preference and necessity.

Dr. Tsaousides provides clinical consultation and supervision to healthcare professionals, on issues related to the diagnosis and treatment of brain injury, and management of associated emotional issues, such as depression and anxiety, as well as strategies for successful transitions to academic and professional settings, and increasing social participation. He also provides medico-legal consultation to clarify the nature, extent, and consequences of brain injury.

We all are hardwired for success. Ours brains are designed to set, pursue, and achieve goals. Being successful is a function of how well we use our brains. Efficient use leads to success. Inefficient use leads to brainblocks.

Brainblocks are the mental obstacles that prevent you from achieving your goals. They are the daily habits of feeling, thought, and action that keep you stuck. They are the hidden barriers to success.

In his new book Brainblocks: Overcoming the 7 Hidden Barriers to Success (Penguin, August 2015), Dr. Theo shares important insights about how our brains can promote or prevent us from reaching our goals, based on his extensive research and clinical experience.

The book is a success and productivity guide for anyone who is ready to turn intention to action. It explains how our own brains sabotage our ability to reach our goals and it provides 49 strategies to defeat the hidden barriers.

Brainblocks will transform you from dreamer to achiever.
